Black Horse P-47 Thunderbolt 60cc?

Okay, It looks like I will go DLE after all, the UMS 7-90 just won't fir and I'm afraid the FG-60R3 just won't have enough power. So you're going with the DLE65, I was checking that one out a bit but there isn't as much info in its multi lingual manual as there is with the 55. Is everything the same on this one as the DLE55 as far as physical size, carburetor, exhaust, etc? Don't you think the DLE55 would be big enough?

I still haven’t flown mine due to constant rain here and flooding making our clubs airstrip unusable for at least a few weeks.

I’ve gone with the DLE65 which I had in a BH 60cc Corsair for brief time and flew with great authority and heaps of power. Manu on this thread flies his with a DLE55 and if you watch the YouTube videos it flies very well! The 65 is more weight which you will need otherwise like Manu’s plane you will need to add 1.2kgs

Absolutely! I have had many DA engines over the years. DA50,DA60,DA85,DA100 and DA170. When I was competing IMAC that’s all I would put in my aircraft. I still run a DA100 in my Carf Extra 300 2.6M. However I must say DLE have come a long way over the years and I personally went for a DLE65 because of a special price and the great feedback on this engine.

I can’t say I’ve had any problems. My P47 hasn’t flown yet but the Phoenix Corsair I had with similar covering. My rule is soon as as you land put it in the shade.

There is no solving the wrinkle problem. The only solution is to just learn to live with it. I love the airplane, It is a a good build, flies great and the landing gear and mounts are strong. I have a friend who is stripping and fiberglassing one for me now. He has not informed me of any problems with the process.

Landing gear. I must of crossed a black cat or something as I’ve had nothing but problems with Phoenix/Black Horse retract actuators (motors)
I went through 4 on my Corsair and now 2 on the P47. I’ve replaced them with Phoenix motors again but one is acting up.
So, I’ve ordered JP Hobby ER-150s and a JP Hobby controller as well. These are way better and smoother operation than the supplied ones.
Will post some pics as soon as they arrive.

Mine is 60 size electric 12S 160A ESC. I will probably use a Saito 60 in the new one. The plane only weights about 23-24 Lbs. I haven't used single cyl. gas in long time so I could only guess, but I would think the 50 would be enough.

I don't think so. I really wanted to use the 75 5 cyl. (same dia. as the 7 cyl. 90at 9 inches). The engine would have to set back about 4 1/2 inches from the front of the cowl. That would place the prop hub about 2 inches inside the cowl. Splitting the cowl may be an option, I don't know. I'm wrong someone let me know. These would be a great engine for this airplane.

I was originally going with an e-setup with the P47 which I used in the BH Corsair but it required me to spend hundreds of dollars on new bigger packs (6s 7200mah) so went with a DLE65 instead. I was going to use a Dualsky 60cc motor with CC edge 160A ESC on 12s setup on the P47 but sold that gear as I already kept the DLE65.

I finally worked out a way to remove the guns from the wings as so I can use wing bags.
I used Well Nuts with an M5 thread and made the guns out of 7mm carbon fibre tube with a cut M5 bolt in the tube epoxied in.

Electric?
I have all the equipment available and on hand to electrify this P-47 but I’d like to know if anyone else has done so already so I don’t re-invent a square wheel if better ideas are out there to make a round wheel roll nicely. The equipment was from my PC-21. Dualsky 6000.8 / CC160 / 12s 10ah 6000w / 21x13, 2 blade prop (when not using the 5 bladed scale prop). Makes me realize I could go scale 4 blade if I kept the diameter below 18”. Not sure of the cowl size though. Might be more waste than it’s worth.
If I were completely fitting a new bird out I’d go gas with electric start on this model but I could save a lot and use expensive stuff I already have on hand.
