??... Not sure what you mean, Shawn. Bipes have been flown for some time.
And mine are not that far from the beaten path. I didn't think that fellows plane was either.

My wing design has been...

Hi Brian,

Is that Fumed Silica? It is very fine, extremely fluffy material. But I don't think it's a good filler that sands easily. I don't think it will do the job on the finish that you are...

The short answer is yes and it is lighter. A combination of carbon veil in and tissue out forms a really strong and stiff composite skin. Tissue is a little thinner to begin with than carbon veil and...

Carbon veil (0.2 oz) application inside the sheeting is a great way to stiffen the structure with minimal gain in weight. I use nitrate dope to bed the veil, thinned 50:50. However, if one were to...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Thank you....

I've seen Stephane's data and graph before. The RCGF32 is more than adequate for the job of flying pattern sized models.

The pipe looks small. I can only wonder if the RCGF was...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Nice work Claude...

Merci,

Matt

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

The Vanquish belly doesn't have enough room to take the pipe as is. You either need to build a tunnel or you will need to cut the cross bracing on the fuse formers. I opted for the tunnel since...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Interesting thing, the amount ofdihedral on the winglet. It adds dihedral effect to the wing. Perhaps a ventral winglet with some anhedral would help

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

CW,

I am a fan of paint too. I no longer glass the surface tho. I use silkspan and dope it down with nitrate dope. It is thinner and much lighter than glass (even the 0.5 oz variety), on par with...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Well, well, I'd better hang on to the 3 I have. Bought 2 about 3 years ago from Tower, for 80$ plus s+h. Man, has the price of ally increased that much in 3 years?? WOOOOF!!!

Unfortunately I...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Claude, the Mintor 38cc is all aluminum and is reasonably priced. I paid around 115$ US for mine purchased from the Area 51 UK distributor. The header is the same as used on the OS140RX which Tower...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Oh yeah I forgot that I added 4 degrees of anhedral to the stab. My calculations fell about half degree short at the increased wing dihedral that this much stab anhedral requires to fully counter....

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Thank you. It's an original design.

The fuselage started out as a Brio fuselage that has a glass foam sandwich construction. Not the best combination of materials. I found the combo extremely...

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Thank you. As widebodies go, this is wider than most and deeper than most. It's a very large airplane for a 2 meter, carrying approximately 1120 sq in of wing area. Span is 78" and length 78 1/2"....

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Eddie,

As I recall, the tweedy burd was my first wholy owned pattern model way back in 1978. I was flying it just fine at the open field we had in College; but when I arrived at a new field...
