A Turbo header is a light weight exhaust for a Saito and some other four strokes that has a tuned volume and outlet size that gives you 200 - 300 rpm more than the stock muffler with most standard props for the engine.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Thank you
I'm a long time Saito owner. From a Saito 30 to a 5 cyl radial. Attached is a old photo of a kit bashed Robin Hood-99 turned into a sorta Curtiss Robin. The radial still runs and sounds great but a little "racy" for an old timer.
Do I have a club number?

When I started, it was Due Mid November. They've changed it 4 times. I guess they got tired of updating and finally pushed it back to LATE MARCH.
I just cannot understand how this sort of problem can keep happening.

Hi gageebees don't know if i have seen the la7 here yet,it looks very nice, how new is it? and it would be tempting to buy a radial to suit so the 220 would be a bridesmaid again!

Hi Old Fart,
I've already contacted Austars (the local importer/wholesaler) and they have advised the LA-7 won't be due in Australia until at least March. I'll definitely get one then, in the meantime I'm trying to determine what engine would best suit and the Saito radials would be a nice choice (if I can afford it).

ESM is the manufacturer. The ARF has a 80inch span.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
First, I have been rebuilding saitos for my customers for about 6 months now, and I really enjoy how well the engines are made.
I have a few questions,
1) How can I become a member of Club Saito?
2) I am working on converting a nitro saito 120s over to gas and I am trying to find the parts to do the conversion. Does anyone know where I can buy them, or does anyone know who I can pay to make them?
Thanks Saitio club members for all your help. I wish every one a Happy new year.

Dave,
TKG on RCUniverse can supply you with bolt on kits for your ignition needs call him at CH Ignitions http://www.ch-ignitions.com/
The Walbro WT456 is the carb of choice for this conversion.

I've used them but most with the pressure taps are defective. The pressure tap goes all the way down inside the exhaust tube and blocks off the flow of exhaust....
You have to reach in there with a riffle file and file off the part extending into the exhaust pipe.
As far as I'm concerned, most are junk unless you fix them.

Do any of you boys use the Saito straight pipes (for radials) on your single cylinder Saitos?

Its lighter and sound a little louder.

An LA-7 is a WWII fighter made by the Russians. LA = Lavochkin (the manufacturer). These are a quite a nice looking warbird that would suit a radial nicely (hence referencing the Saito radials). The LA-9 is a later variant of the same basic design.
ESM is the manufacturer. The ARF has a 80inch span.

Its sound like radial
With 80” span, the MOKI radial is from 150cc and up is too big for it.
This LA7 is suitable for SAITO 325 radial or SEIDEL 7 cyl radial ST-7-70 Methanol 70cc, or maybe the 9cyl radial ST-9-90 Methanol 90cc (if the LA7 cowl can hold the ST-9 260mm diameter) Its really cheep for 1980$ shipped to your door. And the ST-7 for about 1400$ much cheaper than SAITO 325.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi Flashback,
The ESM LA-7 has an 80 inch span and obviously wouldn't need something like a Moki radial, although the Moki exhaust note is real nice.
The Youtube reference was for a much larger scratch built plane running a Moki 215 (IIRC), merely to show what the plane looked like as a model.
For the ESM LA-7 they won't be available in Australia until March (earliest) which means I have plenty of time to consider engine choices. A Saito triple would make me a happy many but the price of glow fuel (approx $8 a litre here) will probably lead me towards a gas engine. FG-36 is one option but it's going to cost me $1K. I could get a 55cc single gasser (albeit a 2 stroke) for as little as $300.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Raven you know well that price is'nt mentioned when talking fourstrokes and that seidal 250 sounds awesome at low throttle if you have the readies, cash in australia
As you know there's a bloke in tassie(tasmania)who has scratch built a 1/3 scale la7 already and twelve horses was not enough,he went two stroke and bought a cheap eighteen hp two stroke,my apologies to the owner!
