I just wrote Secraft and asked if they have a Distributor in the USA. I get a little nervous giving out credit card info overseas. But I'd love to try a pair of those Covers on my Saito 100.

It's a shame you can't get them for the smaller Saito's. I only have a FA-50 at the moment and would love to chuck a set on that in a .25 sized aerobat or something.
Would also be cool to get them for other engines.
But nothing beats the look of individual rockers on the Saito's. Looks a lot more like a plane engine and not so much like a bike engine.

I am surprised there isn't more of this machined alloy after market parts available for planes. I used to race 1/8 scale offroad nitro buggies and you could replace everything on them with CNC machined alloy parts. Not that you would for racing because they wouldnt straighten back out when you bent them :P
But you could buy aftermarket heads and items to individualise the engines. I know thats pointless when building a scale plane. But I would have thought the 3D and aerobat guys would be interested.
Those spinners for the DA-50 etc look cool too.

Gents,
I’d like to jump in the mix here and ask a question about the muffler on my Saito 115 for performance gain.
Intro: I’d been flying my Saitos pretty aggressively the past few years and this year I decided, for some reason or another, to buy cases of 20% vs. 30% Wildcat at the Toledo show this year. Well, obviously I noticed a performance drop. Anyhow, a well respected club member was telling me to run a straight pipe out of the Saito for RPM gain. It took a while to sink in but this evening I just concluded an experiment in the back yard.
By removing the back end of the muffler I was able to gain 340 RPM. So my Saito 115 which just ran peak 9,300 with a 13x11 and Wildcat 20% is now turning the same prop at 9,640 max peak. With this pitch/prop it is a significant increase. The needles readjusted easily enough for smooth transitions. It just sounds a little funky but not too loud. I want to try this out at the field as there have been a few of us racing. I’m neck to neck with one guy and this should put me over the top – so long as I’m not jeopardizing the integrity of my motor.
I’ve heard of people burning out valves by just letting it exhaust into the air, but I’ve still got the stock pipe and an empty can there.

You need something stuck into the threads of the exhaust port in the head like the steel threaded extension of the original supplied exhaust system or some kind of muffler like the Turbo Muffler or some other Saito exhaust system. Part of the Saito muffler like you described is fine.
Other than that, you need to allow for the muffler pressure to fuel tank situation.
The typical gain for an open exhaust is 300 to 400 rpm

Priceless info Gents... Much appreciated! Agreed, the RPM bump is like going back to %30... And I'm using the Perry oscillator pump so no need for the pressure tap...

Is a pump necessary to run a saito (or other 4 strokes) in this way? I guess long uplines would be out of the question?

Something's gotta push the fuel through to the carb. The Saitos have some draw, but without a more positive additional source of "pump" such as the exhaust tap or the Perry pump I wouldn't trust their rather minimal draw under all circumstances.

Hi Y'all. I've been absent from the forums for a while, but I have a question. I have a new Saito .82a GK inverted in a GP Cub ARF and ran it for the first time over the weekend. A great little engine. There's quite a bit of fuel spray coming from the case breather during the run. Is this normal? Or do I need to make more needle valve adjustments as it breaks in to reduce this? It is currently un-cowled. I'm thinking if it's cowled, it will create quite a mess in the engine compartment.

It will lessen somewhat as it breaks in, (about 40 minutes), if you're running 18% lube or so it won't reduce much but your engine will live long and prosper.
