Wasp,
I also have a Saito 125 and love it. If I might make a suggestion, measure the distance from the firewall to the spinner on your P-40. I had originally planned the 125 for a certain plane, then found I could not use it because it was a mite too long. I didn't have the Real Estate to move the firewall back without problems with tank, etc.
I hope I'm wrong, but wanted you to avoid a possible problem such as I had encountered.

We have those ants around here but they are the orange variety. I never knew anyone to get stung by one. It's yellowjackets that always get me. Since we are on insects now, a guys engine quit quickly on short final at the field but he made it down okay. His 2 stroke carb had most of a dead bumblebee jammed down into it.
Pete, you need to revisit 125s for a while. They're not bad engines. Not a great Saito, but an okay one. Well, you know, trying to convince you on the merits of the Saito 125 is getting me to thinking all about the things that aren't so good with them so I had better stop now.

now that I have watched this video again I'm thinking I don't need the 125, look at this thing climb out with that 100IT, but I'm betting he is burning 30%. the FA 100 I have coming should do as well, too add this plane is the same size as my P-40, yet this Spitfire being a Top Flight I'm betting my VQ P-40 is a pound or more lighter

I do,the only way to get good performance out of a 125 is to mix it up with sheep do do and fire it out of a blunderbuss save dave from making a velocity stack too. It's a win win.
ps i noticed the whistle on the spitfire that time.

Geesh, OF,
Maybe you shouldn't blaspheme like that. I also have a very nice Saito 125 GK and I can fly my planes with it. I think that the problems that you've encountered occurred because you are trying to use your aforementioned sheep dip instead of glow fuel. Granted, the Sheep Dip is potent with its methane and all, but perhaps you shouldn't try to scrimp on fuel sources so much. Try running real glow fuel instead of the stuff you scoop up from the barnyard... :-) :-)

I have flown my Top Flight p-51 ARF with the FA 100, and it flew fine, but came across the 125 and put that one in after repairing it from a high speed stall. I like the way it sounds on a high speed pass, when it runs...
The 100 pops right off every time, but the 125 is a ***** to get started.

I want the 125 (and I will most likely buy it) because I love the "Big Air" flying, big air, wow,, I want this P-40 to climb out 5, 600Ft and do huge loops and fast fly bys, you need power to do that, and with all that the 125 uses less fuel than the 100,, never the less I do have a 100 coming, so I will have that for another plane, I would like to buy a .60 size VQ Hellcat, if I do I will just use the stock fixed wire Struts

ps if you like watching pretty exhaust flames out of your saito while it's on the bench turn the shed lights off at night and run a straight stubby pipe no tank pressure, more nitro is more fun with a dash of castor. Can't beat that smell when it burns
pps if you ever throw out old straight nitro, drop some on the weeds...instant

Some almost useful info. Each has all hardware on board, the 1.25 a little extra in the C&H Ignition trigger wheel and sensor, I was not about to remove that only to re-time it again.

I sure was but am careful not to divulge PM info so I made it sound random like.
I'll have to do a power comparo, using a glow plug in the 1.25 and then with the ignition for a different comparo. It's set at 30 BTDC.

I shelved my OS 52 from the LT-40, and put the FG-11 on it, flies better, but I think there is trash in the carb as it tends to quit at times. I was just wondering if the heavier engine made more power to make up for the difference in weight.

My 125 put out a lot of power on 15%. It took about 3 gallons to fully break in though. You have to have patience with this engine. Or, at least you had to have patience with mine. It took its sweet time smoothing all the way out and getting stable.

edit, I have been wondering lately if braking in with a larger prop at a richer setting would be a good thing or not, I have heard many people over the years say they believe to run their dirt bike hard as soon as they buy them new
